Teaching Online and the Pandemic

Teaching online was a strange experience, especially art, which is such a hands-on subject. But I loved witnessing the resilience, creativity and passion of my students shinning through! Even through the screen, I was able to connect with each one on them to make sure they were understanding the concepts, learning skills and using their imagination. This is what I found really worked for me - individual check ins, keeping lectures/ explanations to a minimum, exit cards to check for understanding, frequent reflections and of course just keeping them engaged with activities that they could really connect with and even express their feelings and frustrations about the past year. I was also lucky had a wonderful TA who was incredibly organized and very kind to the kids. She helped me out a lot while I was away. So happy to be back!
